GRIMES CO. AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after it says an 8-year-old boy was nearly abducted in front of his home.

Deputies say around 10 a.m. Saturday, the boy was taking trash to a roadside trash receptacle at his family’s home in the 14000 block of County Road 304 when an older model white Ford pickup pulled into their driveway.

The sheriff’s office says a white male with a mustache, wearing blue jeans, a blue jean button-up jacket and Nike shoes, approached the child and asked him to get into the truck.

When the child refused, deputies say the man dropped a baggie onto the ground, and when the child tried to pick it up and give it back to the man, he then grabbed the child by the arm and told him to get into the truck.

The child was able to pull away from the man, who then returned to his vehicle.  The truck was believed to have driven northbound on County Road 304 towards the Stoneham area.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were unable to locate any vehicles matching the description given after heavily patrolling the area.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 936-873-2151.
