COMMUNITIES COME TOGETHER FOR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

First responders and community members gathered Tuesday night for the annual celebration of National Night Out.

Several locations in Brenham and Washington County hosted block parties and get-togethers, bringing members of the local police and fire departments, sheriff’s office, EMS and emergency dispatch together with the public for food, games and fellowship.

Brenham Police Chief Lloyd Powell said the event provides an opportunity for public safety officials to meet citizens, and for neighbors to get to know each other.

This year’s theme for National Night Out was Oktoberfest.  KWHI and KTEX-106 traveled to parties throughout the evening.

The National Night Out campaign was established in 1984 as a crime prevention program to help strengthen relationships between local communities and authorities.
