BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO SIX CALLS

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to a total of six calls on Thursday and Friday.

The first call came in just after 7:30am on Thursday. BFD members were  dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at 207 East Academy Street. Firefighters arrived and provided traffic control, while also checking for hazards.  Brenham Police arrived on scene and moved the vehicle off the roadway

BFD personnel were sent to a fire alarm at 696 North Market Street just after 9:30am. The alarm was called in by a passerby.  Firefighters responded and arrived to audible alarms sounding at the facility. It was discovered that the alarm company was there testing the system.

The third call of the day sent the Brenham Fire Department to a grass fire at West Stone Street and South Day Street just before 3pm. Firefighters         arrived to find smoldering pine needles on the side of the road. They applied water to extinguish the pile, and then returned to service.

BFD Personnel was later dispatched for a reported structure fire at 1120 Green Street just before 6:30pm. Firefighters arrived to find nothing showing from the exterior. Units were advised that the tenant had extinguished the fire. The fire caused some minor cosmetic damage. No one was injured.

The final call on Thursday was for a report of a gas odor at 1822 State Hwy 105 around 8:30pm. Firefighters responded and arrived to investigate the smell. However, they were unable to locate any smell and or any presence of gas, while utilizing gas meter.

The final call came in on Friday night around 10:45pm at Brenham High School.  Units responded and arrived to audible alarms sounding. After  investigating, they found a false alarm. BFD restored the alarm system and returned to service.
