WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD TO CONSIDER REAPPRAISAL PLAN

The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors will hold a public hearing and vote on Tuesday regarding the appraisal district’s proposed 2027-28 reappraisal plan.

Property tax code requires the board to biennially develop a plan for the periodic reappraisal of all property in the appraisal district’s boundaries by September 15th of each even-numbered year.

Certain activities are required when reappraising real and personal property at least once every three years.  Those include defining market areas, identifying and updating property characteristics affecting value in those market areas, applying conclusions from an appraisal model to individual properties, and reviewing appraisal results to determine value.

Another item of consideration will be a contract with Commercial Real Estate Exchange Inc. for $6,000 for a subscription that provides the appraisal district with access to nationwide property records, sales comparables and real-time market data.

Other action by board members will include approval of the annual contract with Brenham ISD, allowing the school district to perform all duties of the appraisal district.  They will also vote on budget transfers and recognize Joy Body for 15 years of service to the appraisal district.

The board will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the appraisal district office in Brenham, 1301 Niebuhr Street.
