REPORT: FISHER/AGGIES AGREE TO CONTRACT EXTENSION
The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Texas A&M is finalizing a new contract extension for football coach Jimbo Fisher that will increase his average annual salary to more than $9 million.
Fisher's new deal will keep him at 10 years, running through the 2030 season, and will be worth more than $90 million. He originally signed a 10-year, $75 million contract when he was hired four years ago. He is 26-10 in three full seasons.
Fisher becomes the second-highest paid coach in college football, behind Nick Saban of Alabama, who recently received a raise and extension that will take him to an average of $10.6 million annually through the 2028 season.
The Aggies enter the 2021 season ranked No. 6 in The Associated Press preseason poll. They will open the 2021 season Saturday night at home to Kent State. Kickoff at Kyle Field is set for 7:00 p.m. with the broadcast set to begin at 6:00 on AM 1280 KWHI and FM 101.7.
The Jimbo Fisher Show can be heard Wednesday evenings at 8:00 on KWHI.
