BELLVILLE ISD BOARD APPROVES PURCHASE OF WELLS FARGO BUILDING
The Bellville ISD has approved the purchase of the downtown Wells Fargo building, in a move the district says will provide its students an opportunity to connect to local commerce.
The board approved the sale of 346 acres of land on Steck Bottom Road for $2.1-million. That money will go toward the purchase of the Wells Fargo building in downtown.
Both the Wells Fargo purchase and Steck Bottom Road property sale were approved unanimously.
The downtown facility will be named the Bellville ISD Center for Leadership and Learning, and will house a student-run store and restaurant, the school museum, several classes and the administration offices.
Bellville ISD officials say, while students will be using the building, they will not be parking their vehicles there. The students will be bussed to-and-from the high school.
The high school is on block scheduling, which allows the district time to get students to and from facilities.
Renovations to the Wells Fargo building are expected to begin soon. The district expects the facility to be open at the start of the 2022-23 school year.
