One of Bank of Brenham’s founding members has died.

Lee Gaskamp passed away on Monday at the age of 69.

Originally from Sealy, Gaskamp helped establish the bank in 2001.  He served as the bank’s president until April 2016, when Jim Kruse was elected to the position.

Gaskamp then continued to serve as president emeritus of the organization and as a member of Bank of Brenham’s board of directors.

Update @ 12:40 p.m.: Kruse issued the following statement on Gaskamp's passing:

On behalf of Bank of Brenham’s directors, officers, and staff, we are saddened by the loss of our friend and former President Lee Gaskamp.  Lee was a leader in this community for so many years and helped establish Bank of Brenham in 2001.  His leadership for over 15 years and vision were very instrumental in the success of Bank of Brenham.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.  He will be sorely missed.

Viewing will be held on Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.  The family will hold a private graveside service.
