FORMER CALDWELL ISD ADMINISTRATOR FOUND NOT GUILTY OF INJURY TO A CHILD

A former Caldwell ISD administrator has been found not guilty on an Injury to a Child charge.

Brad Vestal oversaw the District Alternative Education Program (DAEP) and the Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) Program for Caldwell ISD.

In March 2019, Vestal was accused of pushing a student into a wall in the district’s DAEP Building. He later resigned.

Caldwell Police investigated the case after they were notified by the school resource officer and a Burleson County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Police later interviewed Vestal with his attorney present. Vestal said he never meant to hurt the student. He just wanted to place him outside to calm him down.

Vestal was indicted by a Burleson County Grand Jury in November 2019.

When the case went to trial, Vestal chose to have the case heard by District Court Judge Carson Campbell rather than a jury.

After viewing video surveillance of the incident and hearing from witnesses, Judge Campbell returned a verdict of not guilty.
