Cubettes looking for a return trip to the playoffs
The Brenham Cubette Softball Team begins another season tomorrow (Tuesday) night in Magnolia with plans of returning to the playoffs.
In an unusual twist, the Cubettes are actually starting the year off with a district game.
They will face the Magnolia West Lady Mustangs beginning at 6:30pm. Tommy Lange and I will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:05pm on KWHI and KWHI.com.
Brenham has to replace three members that were key components to last year’s team; Kramer Eschete, Jenna Hardy, and Maggie Hodde.
With some returning faces, and some up-and-coming freshmen and sophomores, Head Coach Katie Roberts is liking what she sees.
The Cubettes got a taste of the playoffs last year after they finished in third place in District 19-5A. However, they lost a two out of three series to New Caney in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
Roberts said that one her goals is to finish higher in district this season. She discussed what she sees as the team’s strengths.
After Tuesday night’s game against Magnolia West, the Cubettes will come home, where they will get ready to host the annual Leadoff Classic Thursday-Saturday at Alumni Field.
