BRENHAM ISD EMPLOYEES TO RECEIVE $1,000 COVID-19 STIPEND

ALL SALARIED EMPLOYEES TO RECEIVE PAYMENT IN FIRST WEEK OF MARCH

Brenham ISD employees will soon receive a $1,000 COVID-19 stipend.

The board room at Brenham High School erupted in applause upon the Brenham School Board voting unanimously Monday night to grant the $1,000 incentive payment to every salaried employee in the district, using federal ESSER III funds authorized under the American Rescue Plan Act.

According to Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin, employees will receive the payment in the first week of March.

Dr. Chaplin explained that criteria within the ESSER III grant allow the district to provide incentives to teachers.

Board President Natalie Lange said the board is “thrilled” to be able to do this for employees, with trustee Kelvin Raven saying this is “outstanding.”  Trustee Susan Jenkins said the employees are “very deserving” of the payment.

The approved motion stated the COVID-19 retention pay would go to all salaried employees that are “actively contributing to the day-to-day operations” of Brenham ISD and are employed with the district as of Monday, February 21st.

Dr. Chaplin said after the meeting that 700 employees would receive the stipend.
