BRENHAM CUBS OPEN DISTRICT WITH A 14-0 RUN RULE VICTORY OVER PAETOW
The Brenham Cub Baseball Team got the district portion of their schedule started off on the right foot with a 14-0, five inning, run-rule victory over Katy Paetow.
Ethan Jezierski had another great outing. He went five scoreless innings, allowing only three base runners; one infield hit, one walk, and one hit batsman. Jezierski also struck out four batters as well.
Mason Lampe got the first inning started off with a single. Brayden Derkowski courtesy ran for him. Cade Warmke reached on an error that scored Derkowski. Hayden Hupe brought home Warmke with an RBI single, and the Cubs led 2-0.
In the top of the second inning, Devin Murithi walked and Lane Sparks was hit by a pitch. Mason Lampe followed with a two run single to make it 4-0.
The Cubs sent 11 batters to the plate in the third inning and tacked on five more runs. Hupe singled, and Gunner Gee followed with a double. Cayden Shields hit an RBI single to score Hupe. Murithi reached on an error to load the bases. Lampe then cleared them off with a three run double. Derkowski courtesy ran again, and scored on an RBI single by Jezierski. This put the Cubs up 9-0.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Brenham got five more insurance runs in the fifth. Lampe reached on an error, and Jezierski walked. Derkowski courtesy ran again, and Aiden Klehm ran for Jezierski. Warmke followed with an RBI double that scored Derkowski. Hupe walked to load the bases. Jacob Mabie hit a sacrifice fly that scored Klehm. Murithi then capped off the night with a three run homer over the left field fence to put the Cubs up 14-0.
