POSTSEASON HONORS FOR THE BLINN BUCCANEER WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM
Jenkins wins Coach of the Year, Tullis wins Newcomer of the Year

The 17th-ranked Blinn College women’s basketball team has raked in Region XIV awards ahead of its appearance in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship tournament.
Head coach Jeff Jenkins, in his 20th season with Blinn, has been named the Region XIV Coach of the Year after leading the Buccaneers to a 28-4 record, their first conference championship (shared with Trinity Valley Community College), and the region tournament title.
“To be a coach of the year, it just means I have a really good team and a really good assistant in Antreanna Brooks,” Jenkins said. “You don’t win this award if you don’t have really good players who work hard and a great assistant who works their tail off.”
This is the fifth time Jenkins has been named Region XIV Coach of the Year, winning it once with Paris Junior College before earning recognition four times with the Buccaneers.
Blinn freshman forward Tiffany Tullis was named the Region XIV Newcomer of the Year after averaging 11.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. She also was named to the all-region team alongside freshman guard Telisha Brown.
Brown was named the Region XIV Tournament MVP after Blinn defeated Trinity Valley to win the tournament title on March 5. Brown has made a splash this season, leading her team with 13.8 points and 4.7 assists per outing.
Both Tullis and Brown made the all-conference team as well.
Sophomore wing Deja Adrian and freshman guard Hannah Humphrey were named to the region honorable mention team, which means they were voted a top-15 player in the region on at least one coach’s ballot.
“I’m really happy to see that these girls are getting the recognition they deserve,” Jenkins added. “They work hard, they play hard, and they’re successful because of it.”
