SHERIFF’S OFFICE MAKES ARREST FOR DEADLY CONDUCT AFTER SHOTS FIRED; OTHER ARRESTS FOR ASSAULT, MARIJUANA POSSESSION
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported four arrests between Monday and Thursday.
At 6:45 a.m. Monday, Corporal Delilah Pena responded to a disturbance in the 12500 block of FM 50. According to the sheriff’s office, the caller stated that his wife would not let him gather his belongings and had assaulted him. Upon further investigation, 39-year-old Shayla Denin Hoskins of Bryan was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for Assault Family/Household Member Impeding Breath/Circulation.
Shortly after 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Deputy Matthew Brown conducted a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Highway 36 for a defective head lamp. The sheriff’s office says the driver was found to have an invalid license, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 62-year-old Randy Eugene Clayton Sr. of Bellville was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz., Driving While License Invalid and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Around 12:45 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a disturbance in the 12800 block of Schoenemann Road. The victim provided deputies with a video of the incident and photographs of her injuries. The victim’s husband confirmed that an argument had taken place. Per the sheriff’s office, the husband appeared to be intoxicated and was uncooperative during the investigation. 45-year-old Christian Brannon Carlson of Carmine was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member and booked at the Washington County Jail.
Just shy of 10:45 p.m., deputies responded along with the Brenham Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety to a call of shots fired in the 2600 block of Old Chappell Hill Road. Spent shell casings were found in the vicinity along with the victim’s vehicle, which had multiple bullet holes. An investigation identified the suspect as 25-year-old Ronald Eugene Hopes III of Brenham, who was taken into custody without incident. Hopes was transported to the Washington County Jail for Deadly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Carrying of Weapons.
