FORMER BRENHAM FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL STANDOUT DEAD AFTER FIERY CRASH OUTSIDE OF BRENHAM

Update @ 10:05 a.m.: A former standout in Brenham High School athletics was killed in a fiery crash early Saturday morning, northeast of Brenham.

DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz reports shortly after 3:30 a.m., a 1999 Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on Highway 105 when it attempted to turn south onto North Meyersville Road.

According to Sgt. Ruiz, the vehicle went off the roadway, drove through a fence and struck a telephone pole and phone box.  The vehicle then caught fire.

29-year-old Terrell Reese of Chappell Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reese, a 2010 graduate of Brenham High School, was named first team 18-4A all-district and honorable mention all-state in football for his play at tight end during his senior year, when the Cubs went to the 4A state title game.  He was also named District 18-4A MVP in basketball as a senior.  He went on to play football at the University of Utah.

A passenger in the vehicle, 26-year-old Xavier Taylor of Brenham, was checked at the scene and released with no injuries.

 

Original Story @ 08:30 a.m.: One person was killed in a fiery crash early Saturday morning, northeast of Brenham.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., authorities responded to Highway 105 and Wiedeville Church Road for a crash with entrapment.  The Brenham Fire Department and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene, and were advised that the vehicle was on fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a Ford Mustang fully involved.  After extinguishing the blaze, they found the driver dead inside the vehicle.

The identity of the victim and details of how the accident occurred have not yet been released.
