WASHINGTON COUNTY JAIL PASSES STATE INSPECTON FOR THE 10TH STRAIGHT YEAR

Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak has announced that the Washington County Jail has passed its state inspection for the 10th straight year.
Texas Jail Commission Inspector Byron Shelton performed a random inspection yesterday at the facility located at 1206 Old Independence Road in Brenham.
At the conclusion of the day long inspection, Shelton certified the jail as passing and well within the compliance of state law.
He also stated that the Washington County Jail was one of the cleanest and most sanitary jails he has inspected.
The inspection consisted of the analysis of jail policy and procedures, paperwork efficiency, emergency operations, jailer certifications, medical and dental services, inmate interviews, inmate grievance policies, food services, cleanliness, sanitation procedures, staff safety and security, religious practices, and numerous other topics.
After the inspection, Sheriff Hanak said, "This only happened because our entire jail and maintenance staff is dedicated, focused, and pay attention to the details of cleanliness, paperwork procedures, inmate and staff relations, professional conduct, and all of the many other responsibilities placed up on us by our own policies and the policies and laws of the state of Texas."
Hanak also recognized Chief Deputy Eric Hensley, who serves as the Jail Administrator, for his leadership, and the rest of the jail staff for all their hard work and dedication.
As with all 254 Texas county Sheriffs, jail operations are required by state law and all jails must meet stringent rules and regulations set by state law and overseen by the Texas Jail Commission.
