AUSTIN CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING POSSIBLE HOMICIDE IN BELLVILLE

  

An investigation into a possible homicide is underway in Bellville.

According to a press release from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Sycamore Crossing and Highway 159 West regarding a welfare concern.

Upon arrival, deputies found a woman who was wandering around the area on foot.  After they spoke to her to determine if she needed assistance, she stated she had shot her husband and that he was currently dead in their home in the 1500 block of South Tesch Street in Bellville.

Deputies immediately traveled to the location and found a man dead inside the home.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home and seized numerous items of evidence.  An autopsy has been ordered by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Richard Yancey.

The sheriff’s office said further information will be made available once the autopsy and investigation are complete.

Update @ 2:25 p.m.: Sheriff Jack Brandes confirmed the woman was taken into custody, but did not identify her or say what charges she is facing.  The victim has also not been identified.
