GROUND AND AIR SEARCH FOR MISSING CONVICT CONCLUDED

(Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice)
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice announced that the active ground and air search for a missing convict has concluded.
Authorities have been searching for over a week for 46-year-old Gonzalo Lopez in Leon County.
Lopez escaped from a prison transport bus on May 12 while being taken to a medical appointment in Huntsville.
Department spokesman Robert Hurst said the search is now being expanded statewide. There is a $50,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and capture of Lopez.
Lopez is six feet tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white prison uniform.
Inspector General Cris Love encouraged Texas residents to come forward cautioning that anyone helping or harboring Lopez would face charges themselves.
Love also said that anyone helping Lopez could be putting themselves in danger, because Lopez has no regard for human life, and will do anything to keep from going back to prison.
