NAVASOTA MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON TERM IN GRIMES COUNTY DISTRICT COURT

(Grimes Co. Jail)

A Navasota man that led authorities on a high-speed chase will be spending time in prison after the latest session of the Grimes County District Court.

34-year-old Pedro Campos reached a plea agreement with Assistant District Attorney Tammy Thomas. He pled guilty to Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, Tampering with Evidence, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Campos was sentenced by District Court Judge David Moorman to 12 years in prison for the Evading Arrest charge, and ten years each for the Tampering with Evidence, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm charge.

Due to being a previously convicted felon, he could have faced up to a 20-year sentence.

The arrest stems from a May 28, 2025 incident in which Campos and an associate, who were in a stolen truck, fled the scene of a traffic stop in Navasota.

Brazos County Sheriff’s Deputies and Navasota Police pursued the vehicle to the Highway 6 north bound feeder, and then onto FM 3090.

During the pursuit, deputies observed a gun being thrown out the window.

After finally getting Campos to pull over, he then stepped on a meth pipe, while getting outside of the truck, before being arrested.

Later, during an interview with Brazos County D.A. Investigator Daniel Wagnon, Campos confessed to all three crimes.
