FRIENDSWOOD BEATS CUBS 8-4 IN GAME ONE OF REGION SEMIFINALS

It was a rough night at the ballpark for the Brenham Cubs as they fell to the Friendswood Mustangs 8-4 in Game One of their Region Semifinals series last (Wednesday) night.
The Cubs got on the board in the bottom of the second inning. Ethan Jezierski walked, and came home to score on an RBI double by Cayden Shields to give Brenham a 1-0 lead.
Friendswood scored twice in the top of the third inning on a pair of errors by the Cubs, and a sacrifice fly by Mustangs First Baseman Boots Lively. Friendswood then led 2-1.
In the bottom of the third, Lane Sparks and Mason Lampe drew back-to-back walks. Two batters later, Cade Warmke tied the game with an RBI single. Brenham then got back in front on a bases loaded walk to Gunner Gee. The Cubs led at that point 3-2.
It would stay that way until the top of the 5th inning, when the Mustangs would tie it up. Kyle Lockhart was hit by a pitch from Cayden Shields to lead off the inning. He then came around to score on an RBI single by Landry. The score was even at 3-3.
Friendswood busted the game open with a five run sixth inning. Lockhart brought Collin Goolsby home with an RBI single. The Mustangs would later load the bases, and Landry cleaned them off with a three run double to give him five RBIs in the game. Landry later scored himself on a wild pitch. Friendswood was up 8-3.
The Cubs got one run back on a pair of Mustang errors in the bottom of the sixth to make it 8-4, but that was as close as they could get.
Brenham will try to right the ship tonight (Thursday) at 7pm. The pregame show begins at 6:30pm on KWHI 1280 AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com. If the Cubs win, they will send it to third and deciding game on Friday at 7pm. If the Mustangs win, the series is over.
