Washington County Commissioners will meet Monday to consider the purchase of protection equipment for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The court will potentially approve the purchase of a ballistic shield, which protects the carrier from bullets and other projectiles. The 36-inch shield comes equipped with a viewport and light.
The cost for the shield is $9,813, plus $150 for shipping. If approved, it will be funded out of the sheriff’s office’s Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (LEOSE) account.
After Monday’s regular meeting, the court will hold a public meeting to consider authorization for Lischka Engineering to advertise for sealed bids for the Pecan Glen Road District rehabilitation project.
In other regular session items, commissioners will consider:
- A commercial driver’s license training program agreement for the county.
- Approval of the 2022 Independence 4th of July parade permit application.
- A 90-day extension of 58.5 excess vacation hours for Ricky Pena with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Commissioners will meet Monday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
