A legendary local coach is two weeks away from taking her rightful place in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Long time Round Top-Carmine Cubette Head Coach Tanya Nygrin is being inducted into the TGCA Hall of Fame on July 11 in Arlington.

Nygrin, who is a native of Hutto, was the head coach at Round Top-Carmine for 28 years.

She went to college at Southwestern University in Georgetown.

Prior to coming to RT-C, Nygrin also coached at Palacios and Sabinal.

During her tenure at RT-C, she took a struggling program, and turned them into a powerhouse that made the State Tournament 18 times, and won five State Championships.

Those State Championships came in 1995, 1996, 2003, 2010, and 2013.

Nygrin also won over 800 games in her career before retiring in 2014.

  1. Congratulations on a well deserved honor. For many years teams measured their success by how well they competed against RTC. Hope you are enjoying retirement!
