WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER MOU FOR COSMETIC UPGRADES TO FAIR ENTERTAINMENT PLAZA

The Washington County Fair Association (WCFA) is seeking to make cosmetic improvements to the entertainment plaza at the Washington County Expo.

On Tuesday, the WCFA will ask county commissioners to approve a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for upgrades to the plaza.

The enhancements include covering all exposed cracked insulation with PBR panel, installing new blinds in the side rooms and repainting all wooden areas.

All materials and labor will be funded by the WCFA, with no expectation of repayment or credit to its lease with the county to use the Expo.

Another fair-related item the court will discuss is approval of a right-of-way permit for the fair trail ride on September 10th.  An estimated 175 riders will participate.

Also on Tuesday, the commissioners will vote on providing for an additional deputy and vehicle in the 2022 budget year for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for security at Burton ISD.

In other items, commissioners will consider:

  • Presentation of the Texas Historical Commission’s 2021 Distinguished Service Award to the Washington County Historical Commission.
  • Presentation of a service award to a county employee for 15 years of service.
  • Purchasing a used pickup truck from LaRoche for the Washington County IT department.
  • A preliminary plat for Spring Creek Estates, section three, a residential development consisting of 23 lots with a road extension of Crestview Lane in Precinct 2.
  • A formal notice from DCP Intrastate Network, LLC for a 10-inch steel gas pipeline bore on Sandtown Road in Precinct 4.
  • Subdivision variance requests for land divisions fronting Old Chappell Hill Road in Precinct 2 and Strangmeier Road in Precinct 3.
  • Renewing bonds for Joe Ellis, Alfonzo Gomez Jr. and Craig Wiesepape with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
