CHAPPELL HILL MAN KILLED IN WASHINGTON CO. CRASH WAS OUT ON BAIL FOR MURDER CHARGE

A Chappell Hill man killed in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday night in Washington County had recently posted bail for a murder charge in connection to a fatal shooting.

35-year-old Justin Jervan Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash that occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Highway 105 near FM 2193.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, Thomas was driving a 2008 Buick LaCrosse westbound on Highway 105 when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle steered to the left and crossed the roadway.  It then drove into the ditch, where it struck a concrete culvert and caught fire.

No other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Sgt. Ruiz confirmed Thomas had been charged with murder in July for the shooting death of 43-year-old Larry Deshaye Hardman of Chappell Hill.  Thomas was jailed on $750,000 bond, but the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said he posted bail on September 2nd.

Sgt. Ruiz said the incident will still be investigated as a crash, as it is unknown if this was an intentional act.
