BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL HOLDING HEARING ON BUDGET AND TAX RATE

  

The Brenham City Council is holding a special meeting on Monday morning to discuss the budget and tax rate for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.

There are going to be public hearings, followed by the Council voting whether or not to adopt the items.

While having a lower tax rate, the City is expected to see a revenue increase due to the higher property tax values.  The proposed budget will raise an additional $1.5 million in revenue, which is a 19% increase from last year’s budget.

The property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is over $293,000.

The proposed Tax Rate is 47.37 per $100 valuation, which is less than last year’s rate of 49.40 cents. The rate is composed of 32.97 cents for operations and maintenance, and 14.4 cents for the debt.

The Brenham City Council meet Monday at 8:30am in their Chambers on the Second Floor of the Brenham City Hall.
