The queen of the 154th Washington County Fair was crowned Saturday night.

Ribbon Jones was named fair queen after selling 3,666 tickets for $146,655.  That sets a new individual ticket sales record, which had stood since 2018 when Hanna Warmke sold 4,288 tickets for $128,640.

Jones is representing Washington County 4-H and is the daughter of Cutter Jones and Betsy Jones.

Named as the fair queen runner-up and judges' choice was Maddie Rogers, who sold 3,037 tickets.  She is representing Brenham Athletics and is the daughter of Billy and Casey Rogers.

Altogether, Jones, Rogers and Carmen Niemeyer, who is representing the Brenham Anchor Club and is the daughter of Warren and Jacy Niemeyer, sold a combined 7,912 tickets for $316,495.  That total also breaks a record set in 2018 of $221,436.

Fair activities opened with the parade Saturday morning through downtown Brenham and will continue through next Saturday at the Washington County Expo.  The Little and Junior Mister and Miss contests will be held on Wednesday.
