51ST ANNUAL COW-CALF CLINIC FRIDAY AT WASHINGTON CO. EXPO
The 51st Annual South Central Texas Cow-Calf Clinic is set for tomorrow (Friday) at the Washington County Expo.
The clinic gets underway with registration at 7:30 a.m., and the program starts at 8 a.m. The clinic offers the opportunity to hear from experts in beef cattle operations, visit with tradeshow vendors, watch live cattle demonstrations, network with producers and win prizes.
This year’s program focuses on Sustainability and Stayability in Beef Cattle Production, with conversations covering topics like economics, genetics and feeding.
Guest speakers are Dr. Temple Grandin of Colorado State University, Dr. David Anderson of the Texas A&M University Department of Agriculture Economics, and Dr. Joe Paschal of the Texas A&M University Department of Animal Science.
An early bird laws and regulations session at 6:30 a.m. will go over picolinic acid herbicide to allow anyone interested in using the new herbicide chemistry in Invora to learn more about the product and complete the training needed to purchase and use it.
A lucky attendee will win a bred commercial heifer purchased at the Washington County Fair. This is the ninth straight year that the Washington County Beef and Forage Committee has partnered with Texas Farm Credit to make the giveaway possible.
On-site registration is $30 per person at the door.
The program is put together by the beef and forage committees of Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes, Harris, Lee, Waller and Washington counties.
