The Schulenburg ISD Board of Trustees has approved the hiring of Luke Hobbs to be their new head football coach and athletic director.

Hobbs walks takes over a program that is looking for some stability after an 0-10 season that featured some controversy. Former Head Coach Walter Brock was placed on administrative leave back in October, and he resigned shortly after that.

Hobbs, a Utah native, spent this past season as the offensive coordinator for Columbus High School. The Cardinals' offense averaged over 40 points a game, while the team finished as Co-District Champions, and went to the Region Finals.

Prior to Columbus, Hobbs also served as an assistant coach in Giddings and Brenham.

He was chosen from over 100 applicants that sought the position.

Hobbs officially starts his duties on January 3.
