FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO GAS SMELL, FIRE ALARM, REPORT OF STRUCTURE FIRE
The Brenham Fire Department had three calls on Friday.
Two of the calls came during the grand opening ceremony of Brenham Fire Station No. 2, so the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department backfilled to cover those calls.
At 11 a.m., units were dispatched to a home in the 1900 block of Cena Drive for a report of a gas smell. Meyersville volunteers found nothing showing from the exterior of the building, and they were released after the City of Brenham Gas Department found no readings on their detector.
Just past 11:15 a.m., firefighters were called out for a fire alarm at a home in the 800 block of East Mansfield Street. Meyersville personnel found nothing showing from the exterior of the building and visited with the homeowner, who advised he was having alarm issues.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at Parklane Villas, 800 Hosea Street. Nothing was found on the outside of the building. Firefighters entered the apartment and found a pot on the stove with no fire. No signs of fire or smoke were found after checking the area.
