WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO HEAR UPDATE ON EXPO MASTER PLAN
Washington County Commissioners will hear more on Tuesday about the possible improvements coming to the Washington County Expo site.
The court will receive a presentation and progress update from PlanNorth on the Expo master plan. The plan proposes additions such as a covered rodeo arena with associated warm-up pens and stalls, a new entry on Old Independence Road, a possible larger event center targeted in the long-term, drainage and utility updates, and repairs and maintenance. It also accounts for the potential of a new judicial center and a secure inmate passage connecting to the jail.
Also at the meeting, commissioners will consider a request from the Salem Volunteer Fire Department to help with securing a brush truck through the Texas A&M Forest Service’s Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program. The department is asking the county for $13,250, representing the required 5 percent local match for the $265,000 grant.
Later, County Engineer Wesley Stolz will present the Engineering and Development Services Department’s quarterly report.
In other business, the court will:
- Consider an oil and gas development permit for GeoSouthern Operating, LLC on McNelly Lane in Precinct 3.
- Read a proclamation declaring the month of June as Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in Washington County.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
