In front of a near packed house at Leroy Dreyer Field this (Friday) morning, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new Field House, and the recently renovated facilities at the ballpark.

Blinn College Board of Trustees President Jim Kolkhorst told the crowd that planning for the facilities began in the Spring of 2020.  He thanked former Blinn Coach Harvey McIntyre for his input into the project, and the Leroy Dreyer family for their continued support of Blinn College.

Last season, the Bucs had to split their home games between Fireman’s Park in Brenham and Nutra Bolt Stadium in Bryan due to the construction project.

According to Blinn Chancellor Dr. Mary Hensley, the new Field House is a 5,500 square foot facility that contains a club deck to watch the game from the third base line.

It also has a club room with lounge seating, a new training room, a new locker room that can handle up to 45 players, lounge seating for the players, TVs, a new speaker system, and coaches’ offices.

On the concourse area, there are new restrooms, a new ticket booth, and upgrades to the concession stands.  They also have a new sound system for the press box.

Dr. Hensley added that they are also going to be replacing the current seats at the ballpark with new padded seats with plastic backs. However, due to supply chain shortages, that portion of the project will have to wait until February.

New Blinn Coach Dusty Hart thanked the fans in attendance and said they will put a good product on the field this year.

The team then presented Dr. Hensley with a custom-made baseball bat as a token of appreciation for her support.
