WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS RECEIVE DONATIONS FOR ROAD REPAIRS

Washington County Engineer Wesley Stolz presents
two donations to county commissioners on Tuesday.
The donations will cover road repairs on Sandtown
Road and Randermann Road.

Washington County Commissioners accepted donations to help repair two county roads at their meeting today (Tuesday).

The donations came from Apache Corporation in the amount of $50,000 for Sandtown Road in Precinct 4, and from Cooley Construction for $4,933 to fix Randermann Road in Precinct 1.

County Engineer Wesley Stolz, speaking on Sandtown Road, said this was the third and final donation request from 2022 regarding oil and gas damage.  He said work is already underway.

When discussing the damages on Randermann Road, Stolz said some heavy equipment had been unloaded on the road this past year, and a repair is in order.

Also at today’s meeting, the court:

  • Held a workshop to discuss numerous topics, including double holiday pay, a 2023 pay rate increase, the pay grade included in the evidence technician position description, mental health services at the county jail and office space for the emergency management coordinator in the courthouse annex.
  • Received the 2022 report from the Washington County Historical Commission.
  • Approved an agreement between the county and the City of Brenham to access and use the Washington County Event Center for the city’s general election on May 6th.  The agreement only pertains to Election Day, as early voting will be held at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.
  • Appointed Environmental Health Director Mark Marzahn and Environmental Health Specialist Renee Hamilton as designees with the responsibility of submitting monthly activity report information in the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s On-site Activity Reporting System (OARS) program on behalf of the county.
  • Approved a variance of the subdivision platting requirement for a 17.55 acre land division fronting Highway 290 in Precinct 3.
  • Moved the commissioners court meeting from Tuesday, February 7th to Monday, February 6th.  The change is so commissioners can go to the Texas Legislature on Tuesday for the county’s biannual Day at the Capitol.
  • Discussed a formal notice for a utility installation of underground telephone cable and innerduct within county right-of-way of Young Lane in Precinct 4 by Industry Telephone Company.
  • Approved a 60-day extension of excess vacation hours for Mark Young in the IT department.

  1. 56 thousand is what would be paid for a parking lot renovation. Is that the best we can do for the taxpayers of Washington County? Why aren’t they required to fix what they actually damaged. You break you replace it they have insurance. Next time file claims instead of asking for donations. I hope no one signed off on those donations.
