AUSTIN COUNTY DRUG ARREST IN SEALY

A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of two men and the seizure of a large amount of narcotics.
The Austin County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on a 2008 Ford SUV on Thursday night along I-10 West at mile marker 721.
The vehicle’s driver was identified as 24-year-old Jorge Luis-Ugarte, and his passenger was 40-year-old Jose Gomez-Jaimes.
During the course of the traffic stop, it was discovered that Luis-Ugarte did not have a valid driver’s license.
Deputies say they observed several factors that led them to request consent for a search of the vehicle.

A Sealy Police Department K-9 unit was called to the scene. Sealy’s K-9 Officer “Apollo” conducted a free air sniff, and gave a positive alert on the SUV.
Deputies along with officers from the Sealy and San Felipe Police Departments conduct a search of the vehicle, which led to the recovery of eight pounds of black tar heroin.
Both Luis-Ugarte and Gomez-Jaimes were arrested and taken to the Austin County Jail on a charge of Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Greater Than 400 Grams.
