District 7 incumbent Robert Mikeska faces a challenge from Richard Lamensky.  The next representative will be elected at the cooperative’s annual meeting on Tuesday, May 9th at The Silos on 77 in Giddings.

Mikeska has served on the co-op’s board since 2008 and is currently its secretary/treasurer.  He also chairs Bluebonnet’s energy services committee and is a member of the audit and finance committee.  He retired from Mike Hopkins Distributing in 2022 after 33 years, and is a former Brenham City Councilmember and Washington County Commissioner.

Lamensky is the director of HVAC and energy management at Blinn College and has been a Bluebonnet member for over 30 years.  He is a member of the Texas Energy Managers Association and holds the certification of an Accredited Energy Manager.

The three other board members up for election – District 3 representative Roderick Emanuel, District 4 representative Russell Jurk, and District 6 representative Byron Balke – are all unopposed.

Bluebonnet’s service area is divided into seven districts, each represented by one to three directors, who are elected by co-op members to serve three-year rotating terms.  For this election, the term for the District 7 seat will be for four years to evenly distribute the number of director seats up for future elections.

Members may vote for board candidates by submitting their proxy form by May 2nd or attending the annual meeting in person on May 9th.  There are currently no additional ballot items to be voted on this year, but items can be added to the meeting agenda that would require a vote by members.

Proxy forms can be returned by mail or dropped off at any of Bluebonnet's member service centers in Bastrop, Brenham, Giddings, Lockhart or Manor.
