ONE KILLED, ANOTHER INJURED IN HEAD-ON COLLISION IN GRIMES CO.

  

One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident late Thursday night in Grimes County.

The crash occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on Highway 249 near FM 1748, between Navasota and Stoneham. 

DPS reports that a 2011 Toyota Corolla driven by 22-year-old Agustina Sanchez of Spring was traveling northwest on Highway 249.  The Corolla was hit head-on by a 2014 Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle that was driving southeast and attempting to pass a large truck when it was considered unsafe.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, 19-year-old Justin Taylor of Spring, was transported to Memorial Hermann – The Woodlands Medical Center with serious injuries.
