RAINFALL LAST WEEK BRINGS UP LEVELS FOR LAKE SOMERVILLE, BRAZOS RIVER

  

Water levels at Lake Somerville and on the Brazos River have jumped up after several inches of rain fell last week.

Readings early this (Monday) morning from www.somerville.lakesonline.com show the lake at 237.6 feet.  The lake had been around 235.5 feet for much of the year, and had started 2023 off at 233.4 feet.

The lake’s full pool is 238 feet.  Flood pool levels are 258 feet. 

The City of Brenham recorded 1.07 inches of rain on Wednesday, 2.14 inches on Thursday and .31 inches on Friday. 

The Brazos River at Washington hit a high point of 27.67 feet on Saturday and was observed this morning at 26.71 feet, according to the National Weather Service.  Flood stage is 30 feet.

Other measurements on the Brazos River as of early this morning were 10.98 feet near Bryan, 19.95 feet near Hempstead and 97.86 feet above San Felipe.
