NAVASOTA MAN WANTED FOR ASSAULT AFTER INCIDENT PROMPTING SOFT LOCKDOWN AT TWO NISD CAMPUSES

Navasota police have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of assaulting a person and fleeing the scene, causing a brief soft lockdown for two Navasota ISD facilities.

The police department says it responded around 11 a.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Wades Way in reference to a physical domestic assault.  As officers were enroute, the caller stated the suspect fled on foot to the west.  The caller was unaware of any weapons.

Navasota ISD was advised to place John C. Webb Elementary and the Navasota Education Learning Center campus on a soft lockdown as a precautionary measure, temporarily not allowing any individuals on campus.

Police arrived on scene and met with the victim who suffered injuries from the assault.  School Resource Officers met at Webb Elementary and searched the surrounding property.

Investigation revealed the suspect walked through the Webb Elementary playground property while fleeing the scene and continued west into the neighborhood.

After patrolling the area, officers contacted Navasota ISD to lift the soft lockdown.  An all clear was given at noon.

Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Courtavion Scott of Navasota.  A warrant has been issued for Assault Family Violence.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Navasota Police Department at 936-825-6410.
