BLINN THEATRE TO PRESENT “LADIES AT THE ALAMO”

  

The Blinn College Brenham Campus Theatre Arts Program will close out the 2022-2023 season with the comedy “Ladies at the Alamo.”

“Ladies at the Alamo” will run from Thursday, April 27, to Sunday, April 30, at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center.

Blinn College Theatre Arts Professor Brad Nies, who directs the play, called it part “Steel Magnolias” and part “Designing Women.”

The play is set at the fictional Alamo Theatre in Texas City, Texas.

The plot is “The magic of the theatre is alive and well at the Alamo Theatre, but when the leadership of Dede Cooper, the artistic director for the theatre, is challenged by the Board Chair, a rich and powerful woman in the community, Dede is force to outwit her foe.”

Nies described the play as a hilarious comedy that comes completes with verbal skirmishes, shocking revelations, and battle scars that take a long time to heal.

Blinn Technical Theatre Arts Director Kevin Patrick will provide the technical direction for the production, while Theatre Arts Instructor Jennifer Patrick will oversee the costumes, makeup, and hair.

Cast members are Lily Marrs, Y’Lila Willis, Benedite Trecy, Joanna Remington, Fabian Carrasco, Josiah Fernandez, and Maygen Meadows.

Student crew members are Jayden Peavy, Steve Torres Jr., Bianca O’Neal, Luke Parker, Garrison Rutledge, and Samantha Nolen.
