BRENHAM CUBS BEAT MAGNOLIA ON THE ROAD 8-3
With their backs against the wall, the Brenham Cub Baseball Team got back on the winning track with an 8-3 victory over Magnolia last (Tuesday) night.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning. Brady Rau singled, Lane Sparks was hit by a pitch, and Drake Bentke walked to load the bases. Gunner Gee then unloaded a Grand Slam to put Brenham ahead 4-0.
It would stay that way until the top of the fifth inning. Sparks singled, stole second, stole third, and then came home on an RBI single by Bentke to make 5-0.
In the top of the sixth, Rylan Wooten, Sparks, and Jacob Mabie drew three straight walks. Bentke brought home Wooten and Sparks with a two run single. Mabie then scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-0 Cubs.
The Bulldogs came up with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the lead to 8-3, but that would be as close as they would come.
Lane Sparks picked up the win on the mound going 5 1/3 innings, 3 hits, no runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
The series shifts to Fireman's Park this Friday night. It is also Washington County Little League Night. First pitch is at 7pm, and KWHI will have live coverage at 6:35pm.
