LA GRANGE FIREFIGHTERS EXTINGUISH TUESDAY AFTERNOON CARFIRE

Emergency crews in Fayette County worked the scene of a vehicle fire in the La Grange area on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, authorities received a 9-1-1 call around 1:15pm reporting a vehicle fire on State Highway 71 East near the West Point Loop.

The La Grange Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Sheriff’s Deputy Lee Phillips.

Upon arrival, a 2011 Nissan Altima was found to be fully engulfed in flames, but the occupants were all safely outside.

Deputies Rick Bohlmann, Joe Gonzales, and Wesley Arrison assisted with traffic control.  The east bound lanes of traffic were temporarily shut down so that the La Grange Firefighters could extinguish the flames.

The car was a total loss. The occupants advised the Sheriff’s Office that they had just recently purchased the vehicle.

The cause of the fire was undetermined.
