BURTON LADY PANTHERS OPEN AREA ROUND AGAINST MILANO

After two weeks of waiting, the Burton Lady Panther Softball Team will finally get their first playoff game of the season later tonight (Thursday).

Burton won the District 26-2A Championship this past season. They are 19-4 overall. Because of the 2A season finishing a week before everyone else does, and by having a first round bye, the Lady Panthers had essentially a two-week break.

They did stay busy with a pair of warm up games, beating Brazos Christian 11-1 and St. Paul-Shiner 2-0.

Burton is currently riding a six game winning streak, and have won 13 of their last 14 games.

Milano is the second place team out of District 27-2A, which is a nine team district. They finished behind behind Georgetown for the District Championship.

They defeated Center Point 4-1 in the Bi-District Round of the playoffs.

The Lady Eagles are 23-8-1 on the season.

First pitch is scheduled this (Thursday) evening for 6:30pm at Caldwell High School, with a 6pm pregame on our KWHI.COM Sports Alternate Feed.

The winner will face either Latexo or Thorndale in the Region Quarterfinals next week.
