22ND ANNUAL LEE COUNTY FAIR OPENS IN GIDDINGS THIS WEEKEND

  

The 22nd Annual Lee County Fair will bring three days of activities to the Fireman’s Park in Giddings.

The Lee County Fair opens tomorrow (Thursday) and runs thru Saturday.  Season passes, which cover all three days, are $30. Admission is $5 for those 18 and older on Thursday.  However, for Friday and Saturday night, the price goes up to $20 per day.

Kids 10 and under get in for free.

The Mighty Thomas Carnival opens tomorrow (Thursday) night at 5pm.

New to the fair this year are the Swifty Swine Races, which will be held each night from 6-7:30pm.

The Fair will also have an American Veteran Traveling Tribute, which is an honor wall for Vietnam Veterans, that will be on display for all three days in the rodeo arena at the fairgrounds. 

Thursday is going to be Tejano Night with music by Horizonte Norteno from 7-11pm.

Friday will be Senior Citizens Day beginning at 10am.  Admission is free to anyone 60 years of age and older.

There is going to be a performance by the La Grange Roadrunners square dance group, along with bingo, and a barbecue meal.

The theme for the day is “Luau”, and everyone is encouraged to wear their loudest Hawaiian shirt.

Friday night’s musical entertainment begins on the Biergarten Stage with Wyatt Ellis performing from 6-8:30pm.  It then moves to the Main Stage for the Crossroads Band at 8:30pm, and then headliner Josh Ward at 10:30pm.

Saturday will feature an Armed Forces Day Celebration with State Senator Lois Kolkhorst as the guest speaker.  Their will also be a presentation by World War II and Iwo Jima veteran Dud Morris, who is a Lee County resident. The Giddings High School Band is also going to be there playing patriotic music.

The Grand Parade starts at 11am. 

The festivities conclude with music on the Biergarten stage by Pauline Reese from 6:30-8:30pm.  The music then shifts to the Main Stage with Lonely Road at 8:30pm, and headliner Neal McCoy at 10:30pm.
