A now-former Washington County employee has been arrested for allegedly using a county credit card to make over $3,000 in purchases.

According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, a criminal investigation was initiated after a complaint was filed alleging that unauthorized purchases of over $3,000 were made for an extended period of time using a Washington County credit card.  The investigation, consisting of evidence and statements, indicated that 57-year-old Washington County resident Lisa Michelle Grebe had allegedly obtained a Washington County credit card and, without permission, conducted multiple unauthorized purchases from a local business as well as in another Texas city.

An arrest warrant was obtained and Grebe was arrested without incident and charged with Credit or Debit Card Abuse.  Bond was set at $5,000 by Justice of the Peace Harold Riddle. Grebe remains in custody.

Washington County Human Resources Director Angela Mlcak confirmed to KWHI that Grebe, who had worked as a deputy clerk in the treasurer’s office, is no longer a county employee.  Grebe was released from her position on Monday.
