BURTON CITY COUNCIL HOLDS WORKSHOP TO REVIEW CITY RESOLUTIONS, ORDINANCES
The Burton City Council met for a workshop on Tuesday to go over how to handle and enforce two city documents with similar purpose and function.
The documents are a resolution pertaining to the Burton Beautification Compliance Committee and an ordinance for the Laas-Weeren Park Rules and Commission.
During the workshop, councilmembers reviewed the value of each document, what needs were not mentioned in them and how they can be improved. They also explored needs that may develop in the coming years and considered what can be included in any revision or new document.
Some of the needs discussed were maintenance of city properties, trimming of trees, alleyways, and improving sidewalks and the safety of pedestrian traffic.
Councilmember Jeff Eckhardt volunteered to lead the development of a committee, which would include residents, to draft an ordinance to create and implement solutions for the needs discussed. The ordinance would also appoint those who will be responsible for carrying out those solutions.
