DAVID BLAKEY JR. NOT SEEKING ANOTHER TERM AS WASHINGTON CO. PRECINCT 3 CONSTABLE; TWO ANNOUNCE INTENT TO RUN

David Blakey
(Washington County)

Washington County’s Precinct 3 Constable will not run for re-election next year, and two others have declared their candidacy for the post.

David Blakey Jr. has announced he will not pursue a third term as Precinct 3 Constable after holding the role since 2017.

Blakey, who has been in law enforcement for over 35 years, said he wishes to devote more to his full-time job at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office while also enjoying more time with family.

Blakey is presently a patrol lieutenant for the sheriff’s office.  He has also served in the Brenham Police Department, Burton Police Department, Bellville Police Department and Austin County Sheriff’s Office.

Blakey thanks the citizens of Precinct 3 for allowing him to serve as their constable and wishes any candidates who choose to run the best of luck.

That list of candidates right now is Damon Wegner, retired sergeant/investigator and current reserve deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office; and Brad Kuecker, a sergeant for the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office.  Both are running on the Republican ticket.  KWHI will air individual candidate profile stories for the two next week.

Filing for the March 5, 2024 primary ballot opens on November 11th.
