TWO MEN SENTENCED IN GRIMES COUNTY TO PRISON TERMS

William Westbrooks (Grimes County Jail)

Two men received 15-year prison terms in two separate cases during this week’s session of the Grimes County District Court.

On Tuesday, 47-year-old William Eugene Westbrooks pled guilty to Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity in relation to an August 2021 incident.

Law enforcement officials determined that a residence had been burglarized and then later burned down in an attempt to cover up the crime.

Items taken included a tractor, a four-wheeler, and trailers.

During the investigation, Grimes County Precinct One Constable Dale Schaper was able to determine that Westbrooks, his wife, and another person were involved.

Westbrooks ultimately confessed to being in possession of the stolen items. He received 15-years in prison as part of a plea agreement.

Michael Briock (Grimes County Jail)

On Thursday, 33-year-old Michael Victor Briock plead guilty to Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.

The incident occurred on April 20 of this year.  Precinct One Deputy Constable James Ellis was patrolling through Shiro and searching for Briock, who had active felony warrants.

Ellis spotted Briock driving a vehicle, and tried to initiate a traffic stop. A pursuit ensued, and ended when Briock drove through a gate and crashed his vehicle.

Briock was sentenced to 15-years in prison as part of a plea agreement.

Due to his prior criminal history, the punishment for the charge was enhanced.
