BRENHAM CUBS TO OPEN PLAYOFFS ON THE ROAD AT PNG

The Brenham Cub Football Team will open the 2023 Playoffs on the road with a game against the Port Neches Groves Indians.

These two teams met last year in the third round of the playoffs in a game that saw PNG get the win at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Brenham finished the regular season with a 5-5 record. They are the fourth place team out of District 10-5A Division II.

The Cubs are looking to get back on the winning track after dropping their final two games of the regular season to Huntsville and Lake Creek.

Their leading passer is QB Jordan Harvey (Jr.), who has completed 125 of 193 passes for 1,857 yards. He has thrown 12 touchdown passes to eight interceptions.

The leading rusher is RB Jakoby Dixon (Fr.) who has carried the ball 122 times for 1,093 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also has 29 catches for 477 yards and 5 touchdowns.

RB Jaylon Ward (Sr.) has 88 carries for 555 yards and five touchdowns.

WR Chris Guidry (So.) leads the receiving corps with 25 catches for 658 yards and three touchdowns.

The Port Neches Groves Indians are the champions of District 9-5A Division II. They lost their first game to Port Arthur Memorial 27-4.

The Indians lost their first game of the season to Port Arthur Memorial 24-7. Since then, they have gone on a nine game winning streak.

After QB Shea Adams (Sr.) went down with an injury earlier in the season, he was replace by Connor Bailey (So.) Bailey has completed 46-86 passing for 785 yards, 10 touchdowns, and one interception.

Their leading rusher is Isaiah Nguyen, who has carried the ball 171 times for 1,308 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Their leading receiver is London Nunley, who has carried the ball 26 times for 421 yards and five touchdowns.
