Grimes County First Responders are letting residents know that they are conducting a special training exercise this Saturday morning.

The training exercise, which will be held in Shiro from 8am-12 noon, is going to simulate a train derailment.

Residents of Shiro and the surrounding areas, as well as motorists that may pass through that vicinity are asked to be aware that you may hear and/or see multiple emergency vehicles and personnel around town.

According to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, those vehicles and personnel are participating in the exercise.

The Sheriff’s Office said they are conducting the drills so that when a real emergency happens, Grimes County First Responders will be ready for it.
