WASHINGTON COUNTY 4-H WIN FOOD AWARDS IN CUERO

  
Washington 4-H Food Show participants

Washington County 4-H members took part in a pair of food related shows that were held in Cuero last week. 

The first contest was the 2023 District 11 Food Show which was an individual competition where 4-Hers would make presentations to judges about dishes they prepared.

They had to discuss how they prepared their respective dishes, healthy ingredient choices, cooking safety, and the importance of nutrition. 

Madison Moran was awarded first place in the Senior Appetizer category, and will be advancing to the State 4-H Food Show Contest in June. 

Audrey Schmidt was awarded 2nd Place in the Main Dish category.

The following day, Washington County 4-H took part in the 2023 District 11 4-H Food Challenge, which was a team competition.

The “Central Chefs” Team, which consisted of Madison Moran, Haylie Niemeyer, Audrey Schmidt, and Magali Silva placed first in the Senior Category, and advanced to the State 4-H Food Challenge.

Meanwhile, the “Sunshine Cookers” Team, which consisted of Arabella Clay, Brooklyn Randermann, Harper Shay, and Charlotte Sommer, took home third place in the Intermediate Category.

The “Wildflours” Team, which consisted of Madison Fridye, Kinsley Haferkamp, Caroline Sommer, and Lonna Wunderlich, won first place in the Junior Category.
