FIRE DESTROYS HISTORIC BURLESON CO. CHURCH
A historic Burleson County church was destroyed Wednesday in a fire.
The fire occurred at the New Tabor Brethren Church on County Road 225, east of Caldwell.
Numerous firefighters from the Caldwell, Cooks Point and Deanville Volunteer Fire Departments fought the blaze for over four hours. No injuries were reported.
The state fire marshal’s office will lead an investigation into the cause of the fire. KBTX-TV reports that work was being done on the building before the fire started.
Firefighters were reportedly able to save the church’s fellowship hall, photos and some sacred items like a Bible from 1732.
The church just celebrated its 130th anniversary in October.
