FIVE CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Friday.

Shortly after 9:15 a.m., firefighters responded to Lone Star Southern Grill, 2120 Highway 290 West, for a structure fire.  Dispatch advised that the kitchen was on fire.  Nothing was showing from the exterior when units arrived, but upon making entry they found a small fire still burning on the fryer.  A dry chemical extinguisher was used to put out the fire.  Some of the ceiling was pulled to check for extension of the fire, but nothing was found.

The department then went out around 12:15 p.m. to the 500 block of Hillside Drive for a reported fire alarm.  Upon making location, firefighters were advised by the homeowner that the fireplace set off the alarm system.  They responded two more times to the same address, once at 1:30 p.m. and again at 2:45 p.m., but were cancelled before arrival.

Just past 4:15 p.m., BFD members went out to the 2100 block of Highway 290 West for a fuel spill at a gas station.  They found a small amount of fuel on the concrete and used absorbent to clean up the spill before returning to service.
